Cummins is launching its new QSK38 Stage V power solution for vessels operating on European inland waterways.
Cédric Merveillaud, Cummins Director of Marine Europe explains, “The QSK38 Stage V is our newest addition for next-generation engine in the inland waterway market specially designed by Cummins to complement our B4.5 and X15 products already certified for Stage V emissions. The QSK38 is a proven Cummins engine, established for many demanding applications and now fully EU-certified. This in-house developed solution comes with an aftertreatment package that is compact and easy to integrate. This new package delivers optimum performance, proven reliability and fuel efficiency to operators while adhering to the latest emissions standards.”
In addition to the ease of installation, Cummins QSK38 Stage V for Inland Waterways offers multiple aftertreatment configurations making this solution ideal for both new installations and repowers. Our customers will benefit from a completely integrated package that is covered by Cummins warranty and Aftersales through our capable Commercial Marine dealer network in Europe.
Cummins QSK38 is a proven engine in both propulsion and auxiliary marine applications designed to operate in the most challenging applications. The QSK38 excels at fuel economy, torque and performance and offers savings potential with its proven high-pressure Modular Common-Rail System (MCRS) while keeping exhaust emissions at a minimum.
Stage V is one of the most stringent emissions regulations in Europe. Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions, Particulate Matter (PM) and Particle Number (PN) are set at very low levels, requiring the use of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) aftertreatment systems. The aftertreatment system has been specifically designed to fit easily into vessel engine rooms and to allow for easy maintenance operations and service access.
