KMM Precision Measuring (KMM) has developed high-precision non-contact displacement measuring systems engineered for extreme industrial environments. The technological solution integrates robust sensor hardware with advanced signal conditioning to support critical operations in power generation, aerospace propulsion, rocket engine turbo pumps, and materials research and development.
Hardware Architecture and Material Specifications
Originally engineered for NASA and the nuclear power industry, the sensors provide non-contacting measurement of conductive surface motion under hostile operating conditions. The mechanical infrastructure utilizes hermetically sealed, laser-welded Inconel housings to maintain reliability and unsurpassed accuracy. To withstand environmental contaminants, heavy vibration, high pressures, and extreme thermal loads, the systems incorporate metal-jacketed, mineral-insulated cabling.
Operational Parameters and Sensor Variants
The sensor portfolio operates consistently across a temperature range of -320°F to +1000°F, accommodating short-term thermal peaks up to +1200°F. The technical deployment includes three specific displacement measuring models capable of continuous high-temperature operation. The KD-1925 variant is designed to withstand ambient pressures up to 5000 psi, while the KD-1950 and KD-1975 models are rated for pressure environments up to 3500 psi.
Signal Conditioning and System Integration
The displacement sensors interface directly with versatile KDM-8206 signal conditioning electronics to process and transmit mechanical measurement data. For localized monitoring requirements, single-channel systems are available in NEMA enclosures equipped with an internal power supply, a digital panel meter, and a window kit. For larger-scale data acquisition, bench-top or rack-mountable Eurocards support up to twelve independent measuring channels utilizing the scalable KDM-8206 platform.
