The European Commission has initiated a one-year pilot program to evaluate the "TrustNest R-Suite," a secure collaborative platform developed by Thales. Designed to bridge the gap between cloud-based productivity (real-time co-authoring, video conferencing) and stringent security requirements, the suite supports documents and data classified as "RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED" (R-UE/EU-R). A key milestone has been achieved with the formal approval by the European Commission and the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) for the interconnection between the R-Cloud and the Commission’s restricted-level network.
Secure Collaborative Suite Functionality
The platform is built on Thales’ TrustNest R-Cloud, a sovereign hosting solution designed to support the European Defence Fund (EDF) projects. It provides a specialized environment for:
- Document Management: Real-time co-edition and exchange of sensitive project files.
- Communications: Secure telephone calls and videoconferencing capabilities.
- Workspace Management: Administration of collaborative digital spaces compliant with European defense security standards.
The architecture ensures that all data handling remains within the required regulatory framework for restricted information, provided the suite is attached to an approved network.
