The agreement, signed for an initial term of five years with an option to extend for a further two years, covers the delivery of approximately 15 different types of hand grenades. The contract is valued in the double-digit million-euro range and allows the Dutch Army to procure grenade types flexibly according to operational and training requirements throughout the contract period.
Production will take place across Rheinmetall’s European manufacturing network, including facilities in Trittau and Silberhütte, Germany, and Schwanenstadt, Austria. All products will comply with the latest safety and quality standards and are intended to enhance both the operational readiness and training capability of the Dutch armed forces.
“This contract underlines the confidence our Dutch partners place in Rheinmetall’s capabilities and reliability as a leading European ammunition supplier,” said Robbin Reijm, Rheinmetall Sales Director for the Benelux region. “At the same time, it strengthens our industrial base across several European production sites.”
The agreement forms part of a broader series of framework contracts between Rheinmetall and the Netherlands, including previous arrangements covering 155 mm artillery ammunition and 40 mm ammunition. It reaffirms the close and long-standing cooperation between Rheinmetall and the Dutch defence sector in support of European security and industrial resilience.
With its extensive production network and broad technological expertise, Rheinmetall continues to play a key role in ensuring the long-term, reliable supply of ammunition to European armed forces.
