Rheinmetall Strengthens Northern Europe Position with Danish Logistics Vehicle Deal

How the Contract Supports Denmark’s Heavy Infantry Brigade Build-Up

As part of the rapid expansion of its heavy infantry brigade, the Danish Armed Forces have selected Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) for a major logistics modernisation effort. Denmark’s defence procurement authority, FMI/DALO, has awarded RMMV a framework contract for up to 1,000 HX and TG-series trucks, accompanied by an initial call-off for more than 100 vehicles. This first order, valued in the double-digit million-euro range, was booked in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The vehicles are required on a tight schedule, with the first deliveries planned before the end of 2027. Alongside the trucks, the agreement includes maintenance support, spare parts provision and vehicle training—critical elements for rapid integration into brigade operations. The sustainment contract for the Danish Army’s existing truck fleet has been extended for an additional four years, ensuring continuity of support.

Why Denmark Returned to the HX Family
This new contract marks Denmark’s return to the HX user community, reaffirming confidence in a platform previously operated by the Royal Danish Army. For Denmark, standardising on a robust, all-terrain tactical truck family supports interoperability across mission types, simplifies logistics, and enhances operational coherence within the brigade structure.

The return to the HX line also reflects the platform’s long-term reliability, proven under challenging operational conditions by multiple NATO and allied users. Denmark’s choice signals a preference for a mature, battle-tested solution rather than newer, less field-proven alternatives.

Key Differentiators of the HX and TG Platforms in Northern Europe
Rheinmetall’s HX family stands out in the competitive military logistics market due to its combination of high mobility, modular mission adaptability, and a broad user-nation ecosystem that supports long-term interoperability and coordinated upgrades. For countries in Northern Europe—where terrain, climate and rapid deployment requirements drive procurement decisions—these characteristics make the HX series a particularly strong fit.

The TG line complements the HX by offering additional payload flexibility for non-tactical support roles, allowing Denmark to unify heavy and medium logistics under a single industrial partner. The ability of Rheinmetall to deliver quickly, integrate sustainment from day one, and scale up production through existing European networks has also positioned the company competitively against other global vehicle manufacturers.

Strategic Impact on the Regional Defence Market
For Rheinmetall, the Danish framework contract represents a significant step in consolidating its presence across Northern Europe. By positioning the HX as the Royal Danish Army’s standard tactical truck, the company reinforces its standing within a region increasingly focused on mobility, supply-chain resilience and interoperability with NATO partners.

With Denmark joining or rejoining the circle of user nations, the HX platform continues to gain momentum as a reference solution for modern military logistics—supporting both national readiness and multinational operations.
