Integrated Air Defense Network for Operational Sensor Management

Defense networks require real-time synchronization between independent weapon systems and sensor suites to manage high-density airspace environments. Lockheed Martin and cross-industry defense technology partners collaborated to integrate multiple integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) systems — including Aegis Guam and the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) — into a unified digital infrastructure. The collaboration addresses interoperability limits, combining disparate data feeds to eliminate manual coordination across separate tactical nodes.

System Architecture and Function
The prototype utilizes an open architecture framework to aggregate live telemetry, sensor data, and inventory status into a single common tactical picture. The platform ingests airspace control orders, tasking documents, and defense designs, applying artificial intelligence algorithms to evaluate hundreds of active tracks simultaneously.

By analyzing multi-source sensor tracks against engagement parameters, the system generates automated fire-direction recommendations. This replaces manual voice coordination and calculated shot planning with algorithmic weapon-target pairing, optimizing interceptor expenditure and accelerating engagement timelines.

Testing and Deployment Results
Evaluation occurred at the Tactical Systems Integration Lab at Fort Bliss, Texas, following an initial demonstration phase at the Valiant Shield 2026 exercise. The software environment was integrated into the host laboratory infrastructure within 24 hours of delivery. During simulated operational testing, the suite processed threat vectors across the entire operating area, establishing continuous track correlation between distinct defense platforms. The integration confirmed that multi-vendor defense software modules can be unified without modifying underlying hardware layers, ensuring scalable command-and-control operations in complex security environments.
