Elbit Systems Expands Romanian Defense Manufacturing Presence

Military modernization programs increasingly combine unmanned platforms, electronic warfare systems, and networked command infrastructure across multiple operational domains. In this context, Elbit Systems will present a portfolio of locally produced and globally deployed defense technologies at BSDA 2026 (May 13 – 15), in Bucharest, Romania.

Romanian Production Facilities Support Defense Programs
Programs referenced ahead of the exhibition include upgrades and systems integration work for the MiG-21 Lancer, PUMA SOCAT, IAR-99 Șoim, EW-C130, LAROM, Piranha, Puma Naval, and naval simulation systems. Romanian subsidiaries, including Elmet, A/E Electronics, and Simultec, also contribute to the company’s broader digital supply chain and manufacturing network.

The company’s Romanian operations support localized production, systems integration, and sustainment activities tied to long-term defense procurement programs.

Unmanned Platforms Across Air and Naval Domains
The aerial systems portfolio will include the Watchkeeper XR UAV equipped with mission payloads for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance applications. The company will also display the SkyStriker loitering munition, alongside the Magni-X and Thor multirotor drone platforms designed for tactical unmanned operations.

Additional airborne systems will include helmet-mounted display technologies, helicopter upgrade packages, airborne self-protection suites, and precision-guided air-launched munitions.

In the naval segment, the Seagull unmanned surface vessel (USV) will be presented as a modular platform intended for mine countermeasures, anti-submarine warfare, and maritime security missions. The system is designed for remotely operated and autonomous naval operations in contested maritime environments.

Electronic Warfare and Battlefield Networking
The land and multi-domain systems segment will focus on border protection systems, counter-UAS technologies, and ground-based electronic warfare capabilities.

Elbit Systems will also demonstrate C4I technologies intended to support connected battlefield operations through shared situational awareness, command coordination, and digital communications infrastructure. These systems form part of the wider shift toward integrated defense data ecosystems linking sensors, command networks, and autonomous platforms.

Elmet Booth Focused on Locally Manufactured Land Systems
At the Elmet exhibition area, the company will display locally developed and manufactured land warfare systems, including the 30 mm unmanned turret selected for Romania’s Piranha V armored vehicle program.

The exhibit will also include remotely controlled weapon stations, mortar systems, tank ammunition, and the Iron Sting precision-guided mortar munition. These systems are designed to support armored vehicle integration, indirect fire accuracy, and remote weapons operation in modern land combat environments.

Elbit Systems will exhibit in Hall B, Booth 901, while Elmet will exhibit in Hall B, Booth 301. An outdoor display area adjacent to Hall B will feature the locally produced WK450 UAV.
