Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Farnborough, UK, AALTO is an Airbus subsidiary commercialising High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) services through its solar-powered Zephyr Stratocraft. Designed, manufactured and operated by AALTO, Zephyr flies in the stratosphere and achieved over 67 days of continuous flight in 2025. The payload-agnostic platform supports mobile connectivity, Earth observation, surveillance and government applications, combining persistence, precision and operational flexibility. With manufacturing in the UK and its first AALTOPORT launch and landing facility in Kenya, AALTO is developing a global Stratospace ecosystem for commercial and government customers.
Flying for more than 13 days above 60,000ft in Kenya, Zephyr was equipped with a payload developed at AALTO’s Farnborough headquarters that can provide direct-to-device (D2D) 4/5G connectivity.
