Rheinmetall Defence Australia has commenced Australian assembly of the first Multi Ammunition Soft Kill (MASS) shipsets destined for installation onto Royal Australian Navy vessels.

Rheinmetall presented the Kodiak Armoured Engineer Vehicle’s mobility, versatility, and modular adaptability at the Polish Army Engineers' commanders’ conference on February 26, 2025.

The Australian Defence Force procured its fleet of logistics vehicles based on the proven HX truck as part of the LAND 121 project. Over 3500 vehicles were delivered on time and within budget.

These will include 349 UTF-trucks (unprotected transport vehicle) in 5t and 15t models, as well as 219 trucks with a swap-body system, 121 of which will have a protected driver's cab.

The order to supply a first system worth a total of €73m has now been placed at Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A., Rome. The contract includes an option to supply three additional systems worth €204m.
